Founded in 1992 by Olivier Calderon, Index Éducation is French market leader in the publishing of educational software for headteachers, teachers, administrative staff, parents and students. The Marseille-based SME generated revenues of €17 million in 2017 and has 100 employees. It wanted to open up its shareholding structure in order to continue with its expansion, primarily in France and Europe.

Index Éducation currently offers three software packages: Edt, Pronote and Hyperplanning, with associated hosting, messaging and training services. Pronote is a school life management software programme for all types of school: high schools, middle schools and agricultural colleges. It can be accessed via a mobile app and on the internet. It allows school staff to save time in all administrative duties and allows parents to keep informed about the life of the school and keep track of their child's schooling.

Under the aegis of founding partner Olivier Calderon, a former maths teacher, over the years Index Education has become the leading supplier of planning and management solutions for educational institutions, with two out of three schools using Pronote. Its solutions currently cover secondary and higher education, with primary schools at the centre of the company's roadmap.

Within the framework of a capital restructuring operation with the aim of consolidating the company's shareholding structure, Crédit Mutuel Equity (formerly CM-CIC Investissement) has invested €9.5 million as a minority shareholder.

"Index Education delivers robust growth thanks to the quality of its software and its strong customer service culture. Its main software solution, Pronote, is a complete educational IT system, which has become a product of choice for secondary schools. Furthermore, with its experienced management team, Index Education has developed effective and secure associated services, including a hosting solution at its own data centre and interactive features, which really make it stand out from the rest of the market," comment Laurent Vasselin and Clara Zimbris at Crédit Mutuel Equity.

"The arrival of an investor like Crédit Mutuel Equity will enable us to maintain our independence and safeguard the future of the company's shareholder base. Thanks to its expertise, we can focus primarily on developing our product portfolio in order to offer a comprehensive service from primary schools to secondary schools. This long-term partnership will also shore up our strategy in terms of growth in France and in Europe," adds Olivier Calderon.
